Walk and Train

I’m back from a long weekend in Singapore. It was pretty amazing going around independent coffee, tea, arts and crafts, and book shops in the city! Thanks to their efficient metro system, I was able to visit almost all the places I wanted to and the ones recommended by Jam.

When I was there last April, I just got to hang out at The Little Drom Store since I only had less than 24 hours and it was near my hostel. It wasn’t so bad actually because I had the most delicious cake ever at their cake shop.

Oh Craft!

I missed my 6AM flight to SG this morning. It was disappointing and bleh. Anyhoo, this is what I did to forget about it altogether:

And you know what else this means? Free hand-stamped postcards in the weeks to come! :) :)

You can see the whole story and other photos and here.

Handmade Forest Postcards by Mansilliana Sunday

These forest postcards were made after a trip to the great Himalayan region- Nepal and India. People from these countries consciously make an effort to celebrate nature every day by putting colorful petals and leaves on their heads, making dye from crushed flowers and rocks, and using grasses as firecrackers for New Year’s Eve.

You can view the entire forest here

Hey Kessy's Craft Buddies: Kelloggs, Gelibee, and Lai

1. Capt. Kelloggs welcomes home her kuya Dustin and ate Cecille from the States! Her cute poster shows how much she misses them ♡

2. When you're hooked to origami but can't find paper patterns you like, you can always use our paper tapes to upcycle scratch paper! One of the crafty ladies I've met at 10a Alabama last fair, Gelibee, shows us how how to make washi stars here.

3. Lai Reyes uses pink and lime green washi tapes to make a baby shower card. It's so cute!

PS Photos belong to the respective crafters. Thank you, Kelloggs, Geli, and Lai for sharing to us your talent!

PPS If you have DIY washi projects, please email 'em to us at contact@heykessy.com :)

Just Got Back!

That was a weekend full of blessings! I tasted the best coffee ever, met very positive and passionate people, ate the freshest vegetables, laughed out loud with loved ones and new friends, planted coffee seedlings, created necklaces, and bathed in the cold rain :)

I can't sleep because I keep on replaying in my mind the beautiful things that happened last weekend!

Thank you, CoffeeAid! We've found a new family :)

PS Will post more photos and the whole story one of these days.

Where's Kessy?

Yay for weekends! Hey Kessy will be going out of town for the next two days. She's going somewhere where everyone looks forward to waking up early in the morning to share the view of a mountain range, freshly brewed coffee, and beautiful stories. It's a place where the sun is bright and friendly :)

The good thing is she's going to take all these arts and crafts materials with her! It's a craft adventure she's very excited to share to all of you!

PS The store is open though! You can still email your orders, questions, comments, etc. We'll be able to reply until 6PM today! We'll be able to read the rest by Monday. Thank you :)

PPS Thanks for lending me your cam, Des!! So excited!

Small Doses of Craft Goodness

It's not every day that I'm able to sit down and really focus on DIY projects - especially now that I still have to organize my craft table and closet. But, I see it to it that I regularly take simple dozes of craft pills ;p

1 It really changes and brightens up my day whenever I receive an order I've placed online; but, I get extra happy when I see how lovely the packaging is! And that's what I try to achieve every time I send our washi tapes to our dear friends.

2 This red velvet cutie is really really good but with a mini garland - or should I say (washi) clothes line - it becomes extra delicious and special!

3 Kessified my mail art box so I'd be more encouraged to open it and send more handwritten letters!

IamMeg.ph features Handmade Trinkets

This is not washi-related, but handmade nonetheless :p

Wyatt Ong, the online editor of IamMeg.ph, went to the art fair last weekend at 10a Alabama. In this article, she talks about her unique finds – handmade accessories and trinkets  – made by 10a Alabamers. I am so happy when I found out that my stoneware platitos are on her list!

Thank you, Wyatt!

Saturday at 10a Alabama

It was a friend's birthday party last Friday night, but it was a good thing I was able to resist staying up late, or else... ;p So, this is the fair that kept me crafty busy for weeks.

It took a good 20 minutes to arrange our washi tapes, baker's twines, handmade postcards, brass rings, stoneware jewelry, stickers, paper straws, and whatnot.

I hope people liked our free teapot stickers and postcards! There was even a kid who thought our four washi haired friends were for sale. He was so cute :)

I was happy that several of my friends - even the non-crafty ones - dropped by and actually bought washi tapes! :)

Paul, Faizza, Dana, Miko, and Enzo

With Kikko and Glenda

Dana with her French friends, Chinuk and Aude.

Meet 10a's resident cat, Chaplin. After my friends left, he stationed himself by my table and did this:

See you in September, Monsieur Blue Bird :)
