DIY Marbled Paper

Even from the start, I'd get hooked to paper marbling! It's easy to do, fun, and let's you experiment with colors and patterns - which we know we crafters and makers couldn't resist!

MATERIALS:
  • Piñata Alcohol Inks (you can get from the Hey Kessy shop in Katipunan)
  • Paper
  • Water
  • Tray (with at least 2inch walls)
  • Stick

STEPS:
1. Prepare your marbling basin. Fill the tray up to 2/3 with water.
2. Drop Piñata alcohol inks in the water. This is where the fun begins! AS the droplets spread, you can experiment with different color combinations.

4.  Slowly, push the paper in the basin, just below the water. Make sure that you start dipping with one side only. Twist or bend the paper to change the patterns.

3. Using the stick, mix the colors and come up with more complicated designs.

You can also marble textiles, tote, leather, and glass using Piñata Alcohol Inks! We'd love to see your marbling projects, so don't forget to use our official hashtags, #HeyKessy and #LetsBeMakers!

Thanks to everyone who visited our marbling craft station in Eastwood yesterday. Hope you guys had fun! :)

Stamp Making Workshop on June 20

Let's make stamps and use them to personalize tote bags and postcards! Each participant will get a complete set of carving tools and blocks, fabric ink pads, a craft zine, and other essential materials making stamps.

Stamp Making Workshop

Here are some of the stamps I made during a dive trip in Anilao. The patterns I saw underwater were so beautiful and I couldn't pass up not documenting and incorporating them to my works! :)

If you're curious about what you can make at the workshop, you can read about the previous Stamp Making Workshop HERE.

I also lined up other craft workshops for the months of May and June! Thanks for preparing our posters, Popol! :)

Total Girl Feature

Yay! I'm Total Girl's Role Model for the month of May! Thanks so much to the super fun TG team who visited me at the shop. Definitely one of my favorite interviews! They were able to put into words my thoughts on the Handmade Movement, the local community of crafters and makers, and why finding creative inspiration out of social media is important.

PS The issue also has DIY projects I'm sure teens and their moms would love to try especially this coming weekend! :)

Hey Kessy is looking for crafty interns!

After much planning, we’re now offering a valuable and fun working experience for eager, creative minds to join us as an intern for a two-month period beginning on the second week of May 2015.

Hey Kessy Shop

The main responsibility of the intern would be to help plan and run craft events and workshops, so we’re looking for someone with a bright personality, great organization skills, and who, of course, loves doing arts and crafts.

Aside from being involved in events, the intern would also occasionally assist in photoshoots and play around with new craft materials! It’ll be fun work, but they will also need to handle some clerical tasks - emails, reports, and other admin matters - to gain valuable skills for their future careers.

Hey Kessy

How to Apply
Send an email with the details listed below to contact@heykessy.com with “Hey Kessy Internship” for the subject:
  • Full Name
  • Birthday
  • Location
  • Mobile number
  • School if a student, or current work if employed
  • What is your favorite craft, and can you show us samples of your work? If you have a website or blog that we can view online with photos of the projects you’ve made, that would be even better.
  • Why should we pick you? Tell us something about yourself that you feel would make you a perfect fit for the Hey Kessy team.

The deadline for applications is on May 8, 2015.

I hope the applicants will be as excited as I am! I'm hoping to share what I've learned as an independent craft brand owner as well as from being around fellow creatives and crafters.

Looking forward to all your emails!
