DIY Temporary Tatts

Mad Tatter sent over DIY temporary tattoo sheets for me to try! I scanned one of my papercuts, a heart shape, and printed it on the sheets using my Canon Pixma printer. Amazing how the intricate details of my papercut remained intact even when I wore the tattoo. Next time I'll try printing my Instagram photos and drawings on the other sheets. :)

Aside from the DIY temporary tattoo sheets that you can use for craft parties, events, and workshops, Mad Tatter is also carrying Tattly and gold tattoos. My favorite ones are the summer popsicles and paper plane designs.

And since it's my birthday month is just a few days away, I'll be giving out some of these hearts on this weekend, February 28-March 1. Just go to the shop and ask the shopkeeper for the #MadTatterxHeyKessy tatts. :)

You can check out Mad Tatter's Instragram and Facebook accounts for the available designs or you can also email them your own design and they'd be happy to print it out as tattoos for you.

Washied Eggs, Confetti Letters, and a Craft Fair

I was invited to hold a craft workshop at a 7th birthday party the other weekend. It was on a Saturday afternoon but the kids didn't fall short in enthusiasm, especially seeing all the craft materials, the colorful eggs I prepared for the afternoon's egg race, and the washi taped confetti letters for the birthday greeting board. They made jewelry using their cute drawings and doodles. Seeing everyone was in a jolly and crafty mood, especially the birthday girl who looked so pretty in her pink top, I couldn't be happier and grateful to have been invited. :)

I'm sure I'll be making more washi taped eggs for easter!

The following day, I went to the craft fair DMC organized at the event center in Century City Mall. I love this mall because it's not yet that crowded and the shops are interesting, if not new - at least to me who doesn't frequent Makati.

I only got to stay for one whole day, Sunday, but I enjoyed talking and getting to know other crafters and makers. They also played a video about the crafters who held workshop during the event. The stories are very engaging. Here are some photos of the fair:

The Handwork Project

I'm amazed and so happy to have received an envelope filled with these lovely Handwork postcards from the dental interns of UP Manila! The designs are made by their SPED students in Alfonso, Cavite. I like how the artworks of the kids remained intact and weren't edited to produce each card, and each also comes with a simple note as well as the name of the artist.

Not only for VDay, these cards will definitely have their special space on my studio walls! :)

The artworks also come in phone cases. You can place your orders by sending an email to UPCDalfonso@gmail.com.

Handmade Gift for Valentine's

I remember making a lot of coasters last year, two of which were for Valentine's. With just simple materials - circular coark sheets, papercuts, Mod Podge, and washi tape - you can also make some for your loved ones!

Vary the designs by using monograms, quotes, pictures, or just washi tapes! And you can surprise them even more by making their favorite drinks served on your handmade gifts. :)

Washi Project

You can find the instructions in this article in Inquirer. Happy crafting!

It's Almost VDAY

Yup, only four more days before VDAY! There are activities at the shop for those who want to spend the Valentine week with us :)

My brother Harry and I set up a flower pop up today. I couldn't resist spending almost my whole morning in the shop filled with all the flowers. The shop smells so nice! If you're planning to give flowers to your loved ones, we have carnations, yellow buttons, and star gazers which you can compliment with the available celum and eucalyptus leaves.

I also hand-carved these stamps for the little stamping station in the shop. For those who are into diy or whose loved ones love anything DIYed, the stamps are perfect for making postcards, cards, and gift tags! The ink pads are fully refilled with radiant neon inkers so you guys will definitely enjoy playing with different color combinations!

On the 14th, Saturday, we'll have a free film showing which will start at 2pm. You can opt to bring food, but there will be afternoon snacks too. Or you can also have meryenda before the movie or a fancy dinner in Katipunan after. There's a wide selection of restaurants in our area. :)

February 10-15: Flower Pop Up
February 11-15: Valentine Stamping Station (Cards and Gift Tags)
February 14, 2pm: Film Showing (Free)

Bring your friends or meet new ones! See you! ♡

"Not Another Online Shop", Slab Pottery, and Calligraphy Workshops

My first workshop for this year, Slab Pottery, was a collaboration with my friend Iori who is also a potter. The participants learned about the process of making food-safe wares and made their own plates and cups. Everyone, including Iori and myself, was excited to knead and mould their 2kg-pack of clay.

A few minutes into the workshop, a camera crew from Net25 even came over to cover us as we worked, which they then featured in one of their evening shows!

After our pottery workshop, Anina held a calligraphy class at the studio. I always love it when calligraphers come over! With just simple strokes, they always manage to come up with the most beautiful handwritten notes.

The following day, my sister Germee and I had our first "Not Another Online Shop" workshop. It's composed of a series of talks and activities especially designed for crafters and makers who want learn about the essentials of building a strong independent brand and making a handmade business more sustainable.

It's very fulfilling being able to share to fellow craftpreneurs the things I've learned in the past three years of being a shop owner. It actually took me a year to prepare for this workshop, and it was worth it! My wish is for the participants - and to anyone who wants to have a handmade business - to never give up on their vision no matter what and always have courage to make. :)

Arm Knitting in Banaue

Ever since that Banaue trip with my family last weekend, I've been daydreaming (more often than usual) about the Cordilleras and its good coffee and weather. My siblings Germee, Gomer, Gianandrea, a friend from Italy, and I trekked to Batad's terraces for half a day. It's been a long time since the last time I went to a trek or a climb so I enjoyed every step of it.

I also brought with me the balls of Chenille yarn I got from Gantsilyo Guru, and arm knitted myself a cowl perfect for the nippy weather of the North.

This cowl only took 15 minutes and two balls of yarn to make! The process is the same as classic knitting, with only the arms as the knitting sticks.

You can watch the video my brother Gomer took while I was knitting. I hope the cool weather here in the city stays longer so I can make more arm-knitted projects and use them too! :)

Clouds and Raindrops on Glass

The other morning, I couldn't choose between orange juice or fresh milk for breakfast so I had both! In case you're wondering, these drinking glasses were painted using ceramic paint which comes in different colors. You can also use glass markers if you want to have more control in applying color on your glasswares and if you want them to dry faster. :)
